Russia ‘s new foreign policy doctrine has been approved by the country’s Security Council, following a teleconference meeting chaired by Vladimir Putin. The doctrine mentions “existential threats” to the country’s security and development from “unfriendly countries”.
According to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, the updated doctrine will detail how Russia can respond to unfriendly acts with symmetric and asymmetric measures. The new doctrine specifically mentions the US as the main promoter of the “anti-Russian line” on an international scale.
It also mentions the use of alternative energy sources, the strategic partnership with China and India, and the use of science and technology as key drivers of the country’s development.
Finally, the new doctrine also mentions Russia’s support for international efforts to resolve conflicts and promote diplomacy and dialogue.
